DISTRIBUTION:

Manduca tucumana (wingspan: approximately 108mm) flies in
Argentina (specimen type locality): Catamarca, Jujuy, Salta, Tucuman (Cochuna, 900-1200m) and Tafe de Valle (2000m) and
Bolivia: Mataral (1800-2000m) and Valle Grande (2000-2400m), Department of Santa Cruz, and Tajira [Tarija] (1600m).

FLIGHT TIMES:

Manduca tucumana adults are on the wing in Tucuman, Argentina, in March and November-December (FP), indicating at least two broods.

ECLOSION:

Pupae probably wiggle to surface from subterranean chambers just prior to eclosion.

SCENTING AND MATING:

Females call in the males with a pheromone released from a gland at the tip of the abdomen. Adults probably take nectar from flowers.
