DISTRIBUTION:

Manduca fosteri flies in
Paraguay (specimen type locality);
southern Brazil: and
north eastern Argentina: Misiones (LA).

Manduca grandis is no longer recognized as a valid species. The original specimen labelled as grandis turned out to be a female fosteri which flies in Paraguay and southern Brazil, possibly ?? north through Bolivia to Venezuela (MEC) ??.

FLIGHT TIMES:

Manduca fosteri adults fly in December in Misiones, Argentina (LA).

ECLOSION:

Pupae probably wiggle to surface from subterranean chambers just prior to eclosion.

SCENTING AND MATING:

Females call in the males with a pheromone released from a gland at the tip of the abdomen. Adults take nectar from flowers.

Larva have been reported on .
