DISTRIBUTION:

Eumorpha satellitia excessus flies in Brazil and is probably restricted to southwestern uplands of Mato Grasso and Mato Grasso do Sul.

Forewings are a uniform brownish-olive-gray, and the transverse line is greatly reduced. The outer section of the forewing is darker toward the apex and lighter in the basal and median areas.

The pink on the lower wing is reduced to a streak.

FLIGHT TIMES AND PREFERRED FOOD PLANTS:

Eumorpha satellitia excessus adults are on the wing from September-October and possibly at other times.
Eumorpha satellitia excessus larvae probably feed upon Vitis.

ECLOSION, SCENTING AND MATING:

Pupae wiggle to surface just prior to eclosion. Females call at night, and males fly into the wind to pick up and track the pheromone plume.
