Sphingidae of Guatemala

Adhemarius dariensis, Mixco, a suburb of Guatemala City, Guatemala,
courtesy of Nicoline van Kappel, confirmed by J. Haxaire, I. Kitching, J-M. Cadiou

Although I believe these "tribal" checklists contain only species within Guatemala, I fully expect there are omissions and/or improper entries. If you have corrections to offer, please contact
Bill Oehlke at oehlkew@islandtelecom.com.

The list has been composed from what I believe are reliable lists for Mexico and Nicaragua. Since I have only listed those species common to both those nations together with a few which have specimen type localities in Guatemala, there are probably many omissions.

I have added Adhemarius dariensis based on image supplied by Nicoline van Kappel. Jean Haxaire indicates this species often has the scalloped outer margin so evident in the very fresh specimen image supplied by Nicoline.

Jose Monzon (JM) has begun (May 2009) to send me images and/or confirmations of Sphingidae from Guatemala. I have added almost sixty species to the list based on Jose's determinations.
